Meissen (Meißen)

Meißen, which dates from the middle of the 10th century, was a veritable capital of European porcelain industry throughout 18th-19th centuries. The charming town has a number of minor attractions, but we only wanted to visit Staatlische Porzellan-Manufaktur ♥, where a guided tour, complete with step-by-step demonstrations, took us through the process of porcelain-making. Visit to the museum of porcelain was a part of the tour as well.

The hilltop complex of Albrechtsburg looked very impressive from the distance, but we decided against spending time on the cathedral and the palace there.
