Boredom on a sunny day

My lonely life has got so boring that I actually spent an hour vacuum-cleaning the house today. Hopefully, Natasha does not get any ideas…

The entire week was rainy and cold. It appeared as if the autumn came early, and that after a protracted non-summer. I’ve heard people say that they started turning heat on at nights, and a couple of nights were seriously chilly. I put Natasha’s duvet to use instead, in addition to my own…

Then Saturday, suddenly, the weather turned sunny and the temperatures rose into eighties. With nothing to do on such a beautiful day, I did the only thing I could – picked up my golf bag and went for some driving range practice. As usual, it left me feeling as if I could contend for the Open Championship tomorrow. Hitting the ball off the mat is so unlike the real stuff…

During the short bit of driving around, my thoughts turned back to how much I enjoyed driving on wide, straight and frequently multi-lane American roads. With no annoying street furniture, incessant speed cameras or abominable roundabouts. Even thought fondly of policemen hiding behind bends… Oh well… My provisional UK license has arrived, by the way, and I will soon be taking the tests.

Today it is probably a bit cooler, but still very sunny and seemingly pleasant. Me, I couldn’t will myself to go for any outdoor stuff, and instead spent the day in front of the computer (with a break for vacuum-wielding).

The famous Notting Hill Carnival is taking place today and tomorrow, and the thought of checking it out crossed my mind. But everyone I talked about it has warned me about attendant huge crowds, so I figured I’d stay away.

Maybe I should go for a movie tomorrow. Or two…
