Out with friends

Just a brief note that the dinner in honor of two recent birthdays (one of them that of yours truly) took place last night in an atmosphere of mutual fondness and amiability over great food and somewhat overpriced wine.
In fact, the dinner was so successful that I managed to forget my bag at the restaurant when leaving. This fact became obvious to me literally as we were boarding the train to go home. It would have been worse if my amazing awareness of the surroundings didn’t kick in for another minute or so. A brisk walk back to the restaurant and twenty minutes of waiting for the next scheduled train were a small price to pay for keeping the great night relatively unspoiled.
