At the time when I still frequented Russian restaurants this was very popular, so at some point I got sick of it.
I have also listened to this in English, as well as Russian. And they don’t leave the same feeling of haunt and beauty when i listen to it in French.
I slightly disagree with you on the English version, Kostyan. I think it is utterly evocative and gripping. Given that neither of us is conversational enough in French to perceive the lyrics without mental translation, I happen to like the English version better. The Russian one is too full of itself…
