YouTube’d memories: Money for Nothing

I remember when this video came out, how amazed we were with what then seemed a pinnacle of CGI wizardry. Compare it with what you see in an average movie these days, and it’s downright primitivist.
It still evokes tons of memories, though, and the Knopfler fans among us can surely still appreciate the wizardry of sound.










Ah, an MTV classic! I, too, was fascinated with this vid back in the day. It’s still pretty entertaining, even if the CGI is incredibly outdated. How about if we just say that the blocky designs were a stylistic choice, like the minimalist style of certain hand-drawn cartoons?
I guess in the spirit of calling cubism an art school…
